Helen Bullitt Lowry from Lexington, Kentucky was a student at Dana Hall from 1906-1908. In 1915 she was living in New York City and working as a “feminist” journalist. The Dana Hall Association Quarterly, (an alumni publication) printed one of her articles entitled “Can you Use Two Tickets?” in its April 1922 issue. A brief preface states that the author writes a weekly “clever and unusual article” in the New York Times Sunday Magazine. She also wrote for the Times Book Review and Harpers Bazaar. Her tongue-in-cheek article ” The Uninhibited Flapper” was published in 1922 in the anthology Nonsensorship, which includes “some of the wittiest writers of the jazz age” writing critically about Prohibition and other societal restrictions. Lowry concluded that “Vice would die out from disuse if the reformers did not advertise.”
