A/V Equipment and Laptops

The Helen Temple Cooke Library provides access to a wide range of AV and media production equipment.  Certain pieces of equipment may be checked out of the library; other equipment must be used in the library’s Media Production Room. If you are not familiar with the equipment, you should schedule training prior to use.  Training is offered throughout the school day by appointment.

 

EQUIPMENT AVAILABLE FOR CHECKOUT

Media production equipment is available on a first-come, first-served basis to members of the Dana community who have received training from a library staff member.  Other AV and computer equipment is also available for checkout on a short-term basis.  All equipment must be returned to an individual in the library—do not leave the equipment on the library desk or pass the equipment to another user.  Please email library to reserve the following types of AV and media production equipment:

  • CD/cassette players
  • CD/dual cassette recorders (AUDIOTAPES AVAILABLE AT COST)
  • data projectors
  • digital high 8/mini DV cameras and accessories (TAPES AVAILABLE AT COST)
  • digital still cameras
  • digital video cameras (including Flips video cameras)
  • iPads
  • Kindles
  • laptops
  • mini speakers
  • overhead projectors
  • slide projectors
  • tripods
  • VCRs and DVD players

 

EQUIPMENT AVAILABLE FOR USE IN THE MEDIA PRODUCTION ROOM

Media production equipment and software is available on a walk-in or reservation basis to members of the Dana community who have received training from a library staff member.  These resources include:

  • Laminator: to cover posters, signs, etc. with thin plastic (LAMINATING FILM AVAILABLE AT COST)
  • Binding machine: to comb-bind booklets of 8.5” x 11” paper (SPINES & COVERS AVAILABLE AT COST)
  • Dry-mount press: to adhere photos and other materials to mounting boards (MOUNTING BOARDS AND  TISSUE AVAILABLE AT COST)
  • Copy stand: to create slides of photos and other materials
  • Lightbox: to view, sort, and edit slides
  • Flat-bed and transparency/slide scanners: to digitize images and text
  • VCRs: to edit or copy video tapes in various formats
  • Multi-region VCR and DVD player: to view videotapes and DVDs in non-NTSC formats
  • iMovie & iDVD video editing software (USERS SUPPLY STORAGE MEDIA)
  • Color and black/white copiers: to duplicate paper and/or create overhead transparencies
  • Mini-disc recorder: to record mini-discs from various audio inputs (DISCS AVAILABLE AT COST)
  • Digital video converter: to convert analog/digital material
